Diese Reihe an Arbeiten ist mit einem Modell entstanden: ich habe eine Frau, auch Künstlerin, die mir vom Typ her ähnlich ist, gemalt. Es geht mir nicht um das Erfassen der Physiognomie, sondern um ein emotionales Bild von einem Menschen. Die Farben haben in ihrer Transparenz einen hohen Eigenwert. Sie scheinen von innen zu leuchten und lassen die Figur wie eine Erscheinung wirken. Wie ein flüchtiges Ahnen, wer die Andere, oder man selbst sein könnte.
This series of works was created with a model; I painted a woman, also an artist, whose appearance is similar to my own. I am concerned, not with the rendition of physiognomy, but with the emotional image of a person. In their transparency, the colors have a high intrinsic value. They seem to glow from within, and they make the figure seem to be an apparition. Like a fleeting intuition as to who the Other, or even oneself, could be.
